Medley Johns Creek Grand Opening: October 29 Lineup & Events

At 10 a.m. on Thursday, October 29, a ribbon gets cut in The Plaza, the 25,000-square-foot open space at the center of Medley. That opens the $560 million, 43-acre district at Johns Creek Town Center to the public. Trader Joe's has been operating at 1000 Medley Boulevard since June 11. For four months it has had the whole place to itself.

Most of Medley's opening-day kitchens already run dining rooms within a short drive of Johns Creek: in downtown Alpharetta, at Avalon, in Milton and in Roswell. Only one, STIR, has never served a plate in Georgia. The concepts least familiar to North Fulton are scheduled to open later, and none has a date yet. So Medley's first few weeks will feel like a homecoming for favorite neighborhood spots, plus one new anchor and a full events calendar.

The Opening-Day Kitchens You May Already Know

North Atlanta Star reported the lineup on September 29. Toro Development Company expects these to open October 29: Rena's Italian Fishery & Grill, 26 Thai Kitchen, Shake Shack, STIR, Tonic House, Lily Sushi Bar, The Nest Cafe, Five Daughters Bakery, Playa Bowls, Knuckies Eatery, Summit Coffee, Minnie Olivia Pizzeria, CRÚ Wine Bar & Bistro, Cookie Fix and Amorino Gelato.

Compare that list with what already sits around the region and the overlap is hard to miss.

Opening at Medley Where it already operates nearby
Rena's Italian Fishery & Grill Downtown Alpharetta, the original location
Minnie Olivia Pizzeria Historic Alpharetta
Lily Sushi Bar Alpharetta and Milton
CRÚ Wine Bar & Bistro Avalon in Alpharetta and The Battery in Atlanta
Five Daughters Bakery Avalon, Westside Provisions and Ponce City Market
Summit Coffee Roswell, Dunwoody, Sandy Springs, Brookhaven and Emory Village
26 Thai Kitchen & Bar Founded at Lindbergh in 2016, now spread across metro Atlanta

For people in Johns Creek, that cuts out a drive. Rena's is chef Darren Henderson's Italian restaurant, built on family recipes, handmade pastas and ravioli, and seafood cooked on a wood-assist grill. Henderson also owns Crust Pasta and Pizzeria. Minnie Olivia's wood-fired Neo-Neapolitan pies have mostly meant a trip to Historic Alpharetta. Five Daughters' donuts and French-inspired pastries have meant Avalon. Every one of those orders now has a Town Center address.

North Atlanta Star quoted Mark Toro, the company's founder and chief vision officer, on the thinking behind it: "From day one, we designed Medley for the people of Johns Creek." Filling opening day with restaurants local diners already know fits that line.

STIR Is the One Georgia Hasn't Had

STIR is the exception. The seafood-and-cocktail restaurant started in Chattanooga, and What Now Atlanta reports that the Johns Creek opening is the brand's first in Georgia. It anchors one side of The Plaza. Angela Duke of SquareOne, the Chattanooga company behind it, told The Creek that Medley will be STIR's sixth location.

Here's what the local coverage describes:

  • An oyster bar with fresh oysters delivered daily, including six in-season varieties from the North Atlantic down to the Gulf Coast, plus Oysters Rockefeller and a Seafood Tower.
  • A kitchen without freezers, cooking everything from scratch each day, with Southern classics like shrimp and grits and chicken and waffles.
  • Ice cut from 300-pound blocks made in-house three times a week and carved with a saw, sometimes as a tableside show. The bar carries more than 300 liquor selections.
  • Weekend brunch with live jazz, mimosas and a house-made Bloody Mary.

The design takes its cues from the flagship inside Chattanooga's historic Choo Choo complex: chandeliers, a speakeasy feel, and glass garage doors that open onto The Plaza. Next door, Tonic House works as its own walk-up bar. It has a service window facing The Plaza, patio seating, and a menu built around classic tonic drinks. Duke told The Creek that Tonic House will work with Medley's events team on specialty cocktails for Plaza programming. STIR will probably shape opening week more than any other tenant, since Tonic House pours straight into the space where the events happen.

The Less Familiar Names Come Later

The list of later openings is where most of the new-to-the-area dining sits. According to North Atlanta Star, these previously announced tenants will open after October 29, with no individual dates announced:

  • Fogón and Lions
  • Tabla
  • Northern China Eatery
  • Fadó Irish Pub
  • CT Taqueria, listed in Medley's directory as CT Cantina & Taqueria
  • 13 Hub Lane
  • Warby Parker

The Creek describes the full restaurant mix as reaching across Mexican, Thai, Chinese and Spanish cooking. Several of the kitchens behind that variety are on the later list, though. Indian food from Tabla, Chinese from Northern China Eatery and the Fogón and Lions menu will fill in over the coming months rather than all at once.

Little Rey's status is less clear. The Creek's October 2 restaurant list includes it. Little Rey does not appear in Medley's current directory, its opening-day roster or its later-opening list, so its status is unconfirmed for now. The long-range piece is Chops Lobster Bar, planned for the hotel at Medley and listed by The Creek for 2028.

The shops follow a similar mix. Sephora, High Country Outfitters, Drybar, BODYROK, Kontour Med Spa, Moop's Boutique, Clean Your Dirty Face, The Commodore, Sugarcoat, Hollow Oak, Burdlife and Petfolk are all on the opening-day list. Moop's has separately confirmed October 29 as its opening date.

Three Opening Events, Two of Them Free

Toro scheduled the debut over three days. Each one suits a different kind of visit.

Date Event Cost and access
Wednesday, Oct. 28, 6 to 10 p.m. Medley Unveiled preview $175 ticket, $198.41 with tax and fees on Eventbrite, 21 and older, limited tickets
Thursday, Oct. 29, 10 a.m. Public ribbon cutting in The Plaza Free
Friday, Oct. 30, 6 to 10 p.m. Party on The Plaza, Halloween night Free, family-friendly, costumes encouraged

The Wednesday preview benefits the Johns Creek Symphony Orchestra. The ticket covers tastings from all of Medley's restaurants, cocktails, beer, wine and nonalcoholic drinks, complimentary valet, and a look at the retailers before the public opening. Entertainment includes a symphony string quartet, a DJ and live violinist at the Tree Bar, and dueling pianos in The Plaza. With every opening-day kitchen serving bites in one evening, it's the easiest way to sample the whole roster at once, including STIR. The two free days ask nothing more than showing up. Friday's Halloween party turns the first weekend into a family outing.

After Halloween, The Plaza Carries the Calendar

The Plaza is the reason Medley will pull visitors back while the later restaurants are still building out. North Atlanta Star reports that Toro plans about 100 community events a year.

The next big date is Merry Medley on November 27. It brings a holiday concert, performances, the rink opening and fireworks. Medley's event page puts Skate the Plaza at November 27, 2026 through February 7, 2027. North Atlanta Star gave a November 23 rink date, so check the developer's page before you go. Posted regular hours outside school holidays run 3 to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 3 to 11 p.m. Friday, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday. Afternoon and evening skate hours line up well with a dinner booking at STIR or Rena's.

The 2027 calendar The Creek published on October 7 keeps going from there. It lists Lunar New Year on February 6, Shamrockin' on March 13, Holi on March 21, Par-Tee on April 11, Solstice Glow on June 20 and Flavors of Fall on October 16. From May through September 2027, the recurring lineup includes weekly Medley Music Nights and Movement at Medley, monthly CineMedley movie nights, and monthly Symphony Sundays at the Tree Bar. The later restaurant openings will be landing in a district that already runs a steady events schedule.

Getting There From the Rest of Town Center

Medley sits at Johns Creek Parkway and McGinnis Ferry Road. Its FAQ lists 11650 Johns Creek Parkway, and the opening materials use 2140 Medley Boulevard. The FAQ mentions surface lots and structured garages but does not publish visitor parking rates. The Creek reports that valet will be available.

The city's own Town Center park is right next door. The Boardwalk at Town Center trail runs about a mile from Johns Creek Parkway north to McGinnis Ferry Road. Public parking is at City Hall, 11360 Lakefield Drive, and the path starts to the left of the front entrance. The city says the trail connects to 14 sidewalks around Town Center. Neither Medley nor the city has published a signed walking route between the two, so the trail and the district work best as neighboring stops rather than a marked loop for now.

When a new place like Medley opens nearby, it changes how a home here feels day to day, and how it shows to the next buyer. At Pamela Bills, we keep up with Town Center as closely as we do with staging and presentation. If you're curious how Johns Creek's newest gathering place fits into your plans for your own home, we'd be glad to talk it through. Schedule a Free Consultation.
