Milton has a new event on its holiday calendar this year. It falls on a Thursday, and its dates sit close to the traditions residents already have marked. Wanderlust Food Truck Fest started its first Crabapple season on October 15. After the October 29 edition, its last three nights are November 12, December 3 and December 10, each running from 4 to 8 p.m. Each of those Thursdays comes one or two days before something Milton already does every year.
Milton's holidays now run as three short stretches, and a food truck dinner in downtown Crabapple sits at the center of each one.
A First-Year Event Built for Big, Hungry Groups
The City of Milton's announcement calls Wanderlust "a totally new, exciting concept for Milton." The city pitched it to families who can't agree on a cuisine and to larger groups, like church groups and youth sports teams, that would struggle to get one big restaurant reservation. According to Appen Media's preview in the Milton Herald, admission is free and you pay each vendor for what you order.
Here's how each night is set up:
- Two sites, one short walk apart. One group of trucks parks in the Market District Crabapple parking lot, where the live music is planned. The other sets up on the gravel area behind Crabapple Market, near the Green, where cornhole boards come out.
- More than a dozen trucks expected. The city expects a wide range of cuisines, and the lineup changes from one night to the next.
- Four hours, starting at 4 p.m. That window covers an early family dinner or a stop on the way home from work.
The published materials label the two sides "East" and "West" differently, so landmarks are the easier way to find them. Head for the Market District lot if you want music, and for the Green behind Crabapple Market if you want cornhole.
The timing also lines up with the end of another downtown regular. The Milton Farmers Market's published schedule ran on the third Wednesday of each month, from 4 to 7 p.m., through October. Wanderlust keeps an early-evening event going in Crabapple after the market season ends.
November Brings a Thursday Dinner and a Friday Market
The first stretch starts the weekend before, with one of the city's more personal traditions. Milton's free Veterans Breakfast is on Saturday, November 7, at 9 a.m. in the City Hall Council Chambers at 2006 Heritage Walk. Veterans' loved ones are invited too. The city's event page asks guests to RSVP to [email protected].
The food trucks return the next Thursday, November 12. The following afternoon, Friday, November 13, Crabapple Market hosts its Holiday Market Shop, Sip & Stroll on the Green from 1 to 5 p.m., according to Crabapple Market's events calendar. The trucks set up behind Crabapple Market on Thursday, and the holiday market fills the Green on Friday. That puts a Thursday evening and a Friday afternoon of seasonal plans on back-to-back days on the same block, with the holiday shopping arriving almost two weeks before Thanksgiving.

December 3 to 5 Moves From Heritage Walk to Broadwell Road
The second stretch is the one most people in Milton plan around. Wanderlust is back on Thursday, December 3, with the same two downtown sites and a new set of trucks. Two days later, the city's main holiday event moves to the historic side of Crabapple.
Christmas in Crabapple and the Milton Tree Lighting runs Saturday, December 5, from 2 to 6 p.m. at Broadwell Pavilion, 12615 Broadwell Road. The city's event page lists what's planned:
- Face painting, a balloon artist, ornament and cookie decorating, and a station for writing letters to Santa
- Christmas music from an on-site DJ and live performers, including Milton High's chorus
- Santa himself, with no reservation needed, plus photos from the city's professional photographer shared free of charge
- The tree lighting at dusk, followed by holiday singalongs led by local musicians
Because the event starts at 2 p.m., families can arrive in daylight, work through the crafts and the Santa line, and still be at the tree when it lights at dusk. The city has already set the 2027 date as December 4, which is handy for anyone with a holiday-photo tradition to schedule.
The Thursday night and the Saturday afternoon happen at different ends of downtown. Wanderlust is centered on Heritage Walk and the Crabapple Market block, and the tree lighting is at the Broadwell Road pavilion. Put together, the two days cover most of Crabapple in one week.
The Last Food Truck Night Starts Three Days in a Row
The third stretch has the most going on. These three days run back to back:
- Thursday, December 10. Wanderlust's fifth and final night of 2026, 4 to 8 p.m., with the trucks rotated one last time.
- Friday, December 11. Music Milton presents An Appalachian Christmas with Mark and Maggie O'Connor at 7:30 p.m. at Birmingham United Methodist Church.
- Saturday, December 12. The Pancake Breakfast with Santa runs from 8 to 11 a.m. at Fire Station 44, 13690 Highway 9. Milton firefighters serve pancakes and other breakfast food. The station bay will have balloon animals made by one of Santa's elves, a raffle, and a visit from the Grinch, after his heart grew. No registration is needed.
Saturday's breakfast is the one where knowing the parking helps. The city points guests to the spaces at the office complex next to Station 44 and around Stonecreek Church, a short walk away. The 2027 breakfast is already set for Saturday, December 11.
This weekend moves around the city. It starts in downtown Crabapple, goes to a church concert hall on Friday night, and ends at a fire station on Highway 9. A family could attend all three and spend only a few hours at each.
Where to Eat on the Nights Without Trucks
Most Thursdays this season won't have food trucks, but downtown Crabapple has plenty of dining on its own. Crabapple Market's dining directory lists B&B Tavern Crabapple at 12620 Crabapple Road, Knuckies Hoagies at 12630, Peace Love and Pizza at 12640, Olde Blind Dog Irish Pub at 12650, and MilkShake Factory and Playa Bowls at 12660. The same directory lists Lily Sushi Bar at 1865 Heritage Walk, Resto L'Antoinette at 1935 Heritage Walk, The Nest Café at 1845 Heritage Walk and Six Bridges Brewing at 1850 Heritage Walk. Hours change over the holidays, so check with any of them before you go.
Across Heritage Walk, Market District Crabapple opened a new outdoor event space in August at its eastern end, across from Hyde Brewing. In the city's announcement of the opening, Mayor Peyton Jamison described what the space was meant to do:
"It will create another welcoming place for people to gather, connect and enjoy all that Crabapple has to offer, while supporting the local businesses that make this area so special."
The same release says a permanent stage is planned, and that an office building now in the works and new landscaping will separate the stage from nearby homes. That space sits beside the Market District lot where Wanderlust's live music is planned. Even in Wanderlust's first year, the event already shows how that end of Heritage Walk can be used once the stage is built.
